Wrexham Glyndŵr University is at the heart of life in Wrexham and we pride ourselves on our links with the community through facilities and partnerships with organisations in North Wales.
Community on campus
Our involvement with the community includes owning the Wrexham Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium and supporting two of Wrexham’s biggest sports teams, Wrexham FC and the North Wales Crusaders Rugby League. The stadium also plays hosts to major ecents throughout the year, most notably, a recent gig from Welsh band Stereophonics.
The university also plays host to a number of events at William Aston Hall. Theatre productions, musicians, pantos, comedians and local bands - William Aston Hall provides a fantastic offering for both students and local residents.
We also welcome visitors to our on-campus art gallery Oriel Sycharth. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions highlighting the work of local, national and international artists.
Wrexham Glyndwr University is also home to BBC Cymru Wales in Wrexham, strengthening the BBC’s presence in north east Wales and providing new production facilities for its staff, guests and contributors. It's also the main base for Calon FM, a community radio station which was recently nominated for a prestigious Radio Academy Award.
Wrexham and beyond
We pride ourselves on the work we do with local schools and colleges in the area - hundreds of children and teenagers visit our campus every year for educational workshops. We also provide an outreach programme which is delivered by our on-campus science discovery centre, Techniquest Glyndŵr.
Our staff work extensively with community groups to provide Adult Learning and outreach promoting higher education to schools and groups. To encourage them to appreciate the university experience, we deliver a full schedule of events and seminars to raise awareness, inspire and engage the local community. Find out more here.
