your glyndwr experience

Students' Union

A big part of the uni experience is getting involved with the Students' Union. Whether that's going on nights out, joining societies or becoming part of the SU as an elected officer.

As a student here at WGU, you're already a member (YAY!) so you can vote in student elections and take advantage of all the great services the union has to offer.

The SU is here to represent you and your voice as a Wrexham Glyndwr student, and to help make your time at uni the best it can be.

You'll find your SU officers in the Students' Union building, where you can drop in to discuss whatever's on your mind - they're always happy to help!

You can also get in touch with SU officers by email union@glyndwr.ac.uk or calling 01978 293371.

Check out the SU website here or keep up to date with what they've got going on via Facebook and Twitter.

LGBT

We have a diverse student community here at Wrexham Glyndwr and we are committed to a culture encompassing dignity and respect for all.

We are proud to be a LGBT-friendly university and believe that no student should be made to feel uncomfortable, or discriminated against because of their gender or sexuality.

We have further strengthened our support of LGBT+ staff and students by joining forces with national charity Stonewall, to become a diversity champion.

For many young people, moving away from home is the first chance they get to embrace their individuality so it’s no surprise that many people choose to ‘come out’ while at University.  Whilst this can be a very liberating experience, it can also be a very daunting time.

Wrexham Glyndwr Student Union has an LGBT society which aims to raise awareness, support relevant campaigns and offer support to its members.   They also have a number of social activities, providing a supportive network for their members during their time at university.  You can sign up to a society during Fresher’s week, or at any other time.  Just contact the SU for more information.

If you are feeling confused or are just looking for someone to talk to in confidence you can contact your Students Union Advice Centre  or alternatively you can speak to one of the university’s Student Services advisers who can help put you in touch with the relevant people/organisations if the issue is something outside of our expertise.

Alumni

Support here at WGU doesn't stop after graduation. Our Alumni offers lots of benefits - and not just keeping in touch with fellow alumni.

It also offers careers support, our alumni newsletter and discounts on university facilities.

We’d love to hear from you, so become part of our alumni association and our alumni family.

Find out more about the alumni community by calling 01978 293003 or emailing alumni@glyndwr.ac.uk
