Why choose this course?
The History degree at Wrexham Glyndwr revolves around important social and cultural themes – such as family, fashion, crime, art, politics and propaganda – from the Roman era through to the modern age.
Alongside the teaching there is a strong practical strand to our degree, with visits to country houses and historical archives designed to encourage engagement with a wide range of sources and experiences. We also offer a work placement module in an historical setting of your choice.
The investigative and analytical focus of the degree, along with the prestigious nature of the subject, means there is a wide range of careers open to a student of History. Our students have gone on to work as teachers, writers, researchers, financial analysts and members of the legal profession. Our degree is designed to be diverse, enjoyable and interesting, appealing to the school leaver seeking a valuable and recognised qualification and, equally, the mature student seeking enhancement or a change of direction in their career.
This course was ranked third (out of 96 institutions) in the UK and best in Wales for student satisfaction in the 2018 Complete University Guide.
I was attracted to Glyndŵr because it is local to my home and the size of the classes; large enough to get a good balance of ideas but not so big you become a number.
