Why choose this course?


This unique course explores the full range of illustration techniques and applications from editorial artwork and children’s books through to comics and graphic novels. You will learn all skills and then can decide whether to specialise in one area or to continue to develop your knowledge in all areas.


Emphasis is also placed on developing your knowledge of the industry and the professional creative design process. You will learn how to write and draw stories, identify and solve problems, develop your creative individuality and the technical production of work from printmaking and bookbinding through to 3D materials and digital media. You will produce a professional portfolio that will help you to show case your abilities and have opportunities to take on ‘live’ briefs and to enter competitions.


If your interest is in graphic novels or children’s books you will develop knowledge of creative writing, storytelling and developing characters.
