& Creative Writing
6 YRS (PT)
Why choose this course?
If your love of English is directed equally towards writing as reading, you can divide your time between these two complementary subjects.
As well as studying the extraordinary and diverse history of literature from Britain and around the world, you’ll learn how to write creatively for both adults and children in a variety of genres such as crime and thrillers, historical and children’s fiction.
The English and Creative Writing team have a good staff/student ratio, enabling small group sizes and outstanding individual support. The team provide an environment that will encourage you to achieve your potential and fulfil your ambitions, whilst the recently established Goldstein library is an archive on campus that can provide a valuable resource for research.
*Subject to Validation in 2019. The University reviews its courses on a regular basis to ensure that they reflect the needs of students and employers. To do this we have a schedule for approving new programmes, and updating existing ones. Some are awaiting their turn in the approval cycle and are shown as 'subject to validation'. As soon as the award is validated, details will be amended automatically. For those courses listed as subject to validation, please contact the Admissions Office on 01978 293439 for further information. Once a programme that you have applied for is validated, details will be communicated to you. If you are not happy with the changes made and wish to withdraw your choice, the University will assist you with finding an alternative programme.
I won a BBC short story competition in writing for children...The fact that I won a competition in something I never thought I could turn my hand to three years ago is a great testimony to the lecturers here.
