Why choose this course?

As Artificial Intelligence is now prevalent in the development of emerging technologies; with driver-less cars, robotics and machine intelligence constantly evolving and taking a more active role in society - now is a key time to develop your knowledge in this specialist field.

Our Artificial Intelligence degree covers the fundamental theory, principles, contemporary issues and the computing techniques that are making an impact on businesses and organisations today and into the future.

The option of an Industrial Placement Year is a defining feature of this programme. It takes place in year 3 after which students return to complete the final year of the course. The Industrial Placement Year provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience of the workplace, put the knowledge and skills developed so far into practice, and to acquire new information and abilities in a practical setting.

The course emphasises the practical applications of artificial intelligence and provides you with projects that address real world problems. You will learn advanced computing methods and techniques based on classical artificial intelligence, evolutionary computing as well as machine learning.

Our research active department in Future and Emerging Technologies has been successful in achieving funding for developing a range of intelligent kitchen appliances for use by elderly or disabled people and continues to develop research projects. This research and knowledge will have a direct link into the course giving you the opportunity to see research come to life.
