Wrexham Glyndwr did a good job of preparing me for the wider world of work. With constant deadlines and real world projects, I felt that I was ready for entering the industry after university. As well as this we were given the opportunity and help to find work experience during our time at university, this was invaluable when it came to applying for jobs.

I am now a Mid-Weight Designer at Qubit. My day to day work is highly varied and can involve anything from web design, Ui/Ux, User testing, print work to marketing and social media campaigns.

My highlights have been creating branding for Qubits winter conference in France. I was also involved in the filming and general production of the event.

I chose Wrexham Glyndwr University due to its interesting and exciting design based course with the opportunity it offers for cross collaboration with other students in different departments. Tutors were always helpful when it came to projects and helping us gain amazing opportunities to get work experience in exciting companies.

If I was giving advice to someone wanting to work in a similar field, I would say work, work, work. Set yourself a goal and don’t stop working until you achieve it. Spend every second working towards that goal. Immerse yourself in design culture, talk to as many people as you can about design. Create interesting and exciting projects. Don’t be afraid to fail. Failing 1000 times while in university is the best preparation for the outside world.

I would recommend taking a design course at Wrexham Glyndwr. The course gives you lots of opportunities to experience design in the real world as well as giving you time to experiment with ideas. They offer support throughout the year and are always there to help you with your needs.

My favourite memory is our design trip to Berlin. It was amazing to experience this creative city with the experienced tutors showing us around. It also allowed me to develop strong, long lasting friendship with my course mates and inspired us to make new and amazing things.

Glyndwr give you the freedom to explore, create and develop as a designer as well as preparing you for the world of work.
