BA (Hons) Animation 2006

MA CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) 2009

Full Time

I am currently the lead 3D Artist in an Augmented Reality company. My responsibilities focus on all aspects of the 3D production pipeline. This includes: negotiating timing plans and deadlines with production, distributing assignments to the 3D team, mentoring, quality assurance and liaising with development to improve future performance.

I will always remember my first job at Electronic Arts as a QA game tester. Recently, I've had the great opportunity to work with Warner Bros, Rovio, Lego, Marvel, Dreamworks and Universal.

I chose Glyndwr University as I was really attracted to the course material. The strength of the course's approach to, in particular, 2D animation, was unique – especially when compared to similar courses at different places. The workshops, visits to companies, and lectures were invaluable in preparing me to enter the work force.

I was highly motivated to hit all my goals. I was desperate to become both an accomplished 3D and 2D artist. During my time at university, in order to advance my artistic understanding and experience, I embarked on several trips in order to collaborate with different centres of education.

I was worried my dyslexia might prove a disadvantage during my time at university. However, Glyndwr was very supportive of my situation and offered a variety of services to assist me during my course of studies.

I would endorse any budding animator or designer to have multiple skill-sets. It will give you a fundamental advantage. Being multi-disciplined enables you to go in more than one direction, allowing your career to naturally take shape.

Glyndwr go above and beyond to help students with issues such as accommodation, personal problems, and coursework. The structure of the university allows more mature students to collaborate and assist younger students with their work and direction, producing a sense of community. I made lifelong friends during my times at Glyndwr.

Be prepared for the challenges you will have to face during your time in university: the coursework, living, finances, friends and family life. All of these will change the way you view the world. Live life hard. Never look back.
