BA (Hons) Graphic Design
Full Time

I studied Graphic Design at the North Wales School of Art and Design, graduating in 1991.

The course was excellent and it was a great place to study. We had opportunities to develop our skills in the different aspects of design such as photography, printmaking and ICT. This in turn gave me a good solid base and the confidence I needed for my future career in Graphic Design. During the course we had guest speakers who shared with us their knowledge and experience of working in the design world. The tutors, Pauline and Dave were great - hugely supportive, down to earth, approachable and always had time to help and encourage their students in their creativity. They were very knowledgeable and were fab mentors and motivators!

As part of my studies I was incredibly lucky to gain a work placement with Company Magazine at the National Magazine House in London. My time there was amazing and gave me valuable experience and enhanced my knowledge and skills and gave me first hand insight into the world of media. I even had my work published in the magazine.

Since graduating, the design industry has changed enormously, and I’ve had a varied and interesting career path as the design industry has evolved into the digital age that we see today. I’ve been very fortunate in my career, working for graphics agencies, local government and being a founder member in setting up a successful design agency within a national multi media company, which is one of my proudest achievements.

I have no hesitation in highly recommending the SCOA Graphic Design and Multimedia course part of Wrexham Glyndwr University and it is an excellent pathway into the design industry for anyone who is thinking of it as his or her career choice.
