BSc (Hons) Applied Computing
A combination of a computing degree and running a remote control car news website with 60,000 unique monthly visitors inspired me to start my own digital marketing business. I set up Your Digital Marketer using the knowledge gained from maintaining RCNews.net and skills from my BSc (Hons) Applied Computing course.
I have recently moved into offices near my home town, Oswestry. I love being self-employed and I don’t see the future being any different. The best part about being your own boss is the ability to manage your workload around your own plans. I have the ability to take time off when I want providing work gets done, and I enjoy the freedom provided by my profession. Although I have an office where I spend most of my time, I can work from wherever I want.
I wanted to move on to bigger and better things after running RCNews.net and I was able to use my self-taught digital marketing skills to set up my own agency, focusing on SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and PPC (Pay Per Click). Web design, user interface programming and informatics which I studied at university also helped.
Your Digital Marketer is now 10 months old. Sales have increased month by month and I’m very excited to keep the business growing at this rate.
I visited the ZONE business centre at Glyndŵr University on several occasions for advice and support. The support network really helped me as I could gain information and tips from experienced business owners.
