BEng Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering
I dreamt of working in the aeronautics industry and joining the Airbus Undergraduate Apprenticeship scheme from a very young age.
I graduated from Wrexham Glyndwr University in 2014. I was extremely proud to be named as the winner of the 2014 Royal Aeronautical Society Final Year Undergraduate Prize. It was great to receive formal recognition for my achievements and a fantastic way to complete my Bachelor’s Degree at Glyndwr University.
I was also awarded the EEF Wales Outstanding Achievement by a first and second year apprentice awards and Wrexham Glyndwr’s Ede and Ravenscroft Prize, presented to a Foundation Degree student who achieves proportionally the highest marks in their final year exams across all vocational programmes.
I am now a project leader on the A380 programme team at the Airbus plant in Broughton. I believe a lot of my success is down to the support of Wrexham Glyndwr, having graduated with a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering.
Glyndwr played an instrumental role in my academic growth and development during my apprenticeship with Airbus. My course provided me with the opportunity to explore both current and prospective aeronautical concepts as well as develop a wide range of invaluable transferable skills.
It was the contributions of my programme lecturers that truly cemented my experience at the University. All of my tutors were extremely passionate and knowledgeable about their subject area, and these qualities were further enhanced by the encouragement and support they displayed for their students.
I have met the Queen at Buckingham Palace, taken Prime Minister David Cameron on a tour of Airbus and appeared on TV.
