Owain Glyndŵr Society Prize

In 2010 Glyndŵr University received a donation of a silver salver from the Owain Glyndŵr Society, to be awarded to honour an alumnus of the university by the presentation of the salver at the annual degree ceremonies.

The salver will be displayed at the university's library and the name of each year's winner will be marked on a board alongside. The winner will be awarded a certificate.

Specific Prize Criteria

We are proud to have named our university after a man who cherished learning, loved his country, embraced an international outlook, and constantly demonstrated an inspiring and enterprising approach to life. His spirit lies at the heart of Glyndŵr University and therefore the prize will be awarded to an eligible alumnus who has made an outstanding contribution in any of the following fields:

•    the promotion of learning and education
•    the promotion of learning and education through the medium of Welsh
•    the promotion of Wales
•    enhancing international links
•    enterprise and innovation

Eligible alumni can nominate themselves or can be nominated by another individual* or organisation. Anyone making a nomination will be required to provide explicit reasons for their nominations on the nominations form. The final decision on the prize winner will be made by a panel consisting of a member of the Executive Group (Chair), the Head of Corporate Communications, the Student Guild President and a representative from the marketing department.

How to Nominate

To nominate yourself or another alumnus of the University for this prize, you must provide explicit reasons of how you/they meet the specific prize criteria on the prize nomination form, and you/they must also meet the criteria set out in the University prize regulations.
