Martina is studying BSc (Hons) Sports Management here at Wrexham Glyndwr.
She came to Glyndwr after a playing Volleyball for 9 years in Bulgaria to learn more about managing sports businesses.
What were you doing before coming to Wrexham Glyndŵr?
I am from Bulgaria, so my life was totally different. Before coming to Wrexham Glyndwr University I just graduated from school, I've been playing volleyball for 9 years and coaching kids for 2 years.
What attracted you to Wrexham Glyndŵr University?
I was accepted in few others universities as well, but only in Wrexham Glyndŵr I had the opportunity to study Sports Management and I just felt like this is the right place for me and few months later I can tell that for sure.
What’s the atmosphere like around campus?
The atmosphere around campus is really nice, sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's really quiet and I love it when it's like that. Everyone is super friendly and you can always find a little reason to smile!
What do you enjoy most about your course?
I'm studying Sports Management because this course gives me the opportunity to combine two of my passions; business and sports. I love that some days we will be doing something practical in the sports and exercise module and other days we can be studying reports as part of the business modules.
What has been your favourite module?
Describe a typical day on your course…
When I go to class if it's the sports coaching module, we will be doing a practical activity in the sports centre. If it's theory I could be studying business or marketing and I find it fascinating as it is completely new to me.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I am so enthusiastic about sports, I genuinely love all sports and I definitely want to have a career in the sports industry when I graduate. I see myself as a sports agent for a professional sportsperson.
What do you enjoy most about being a student here?
I love the freedom I have, I love the fact that people respect me for who I am and that my honesty is always appreciated. I like seeing people trying to be better at everything and this is definitely some kind of a motivation, to know you're not alone and you're part of something big.
