Francesca Stephens

Francesca is studying MBA Masters of Business Administration

I was prompted to return to Wrexham Glyndwr when I became a parent. I didn’t want to return to that working environment straight away and wanted to do a masters to better myself for my family. It also gave me another year at home with my son!

I chose Wrexham Glyndwr in part because of the location. I completed my undergrad in applied arts here 5 years ago and found it to be an underestimated university that offered so much guidance through my studies.

Working in a small group means that learning has been intense but focused. I’ve learnt so many new things on this course, but the biggest thing I’ve learned is self-confidence and the belief that I could be a real asset to a company, instead of just getting by.

The freedom that comes with studying has been perfect as a parent, it’s meant I can slot study and work around naps (his, not mine!) and it also brought me into a new space where I could enjoy some adult time, re-engage my brain and make some great lifelong friends.

I’d recommend Wrexham Glyndwr to anyone considering studying at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The MBA course has helped to open doors for me in my career, and while I would like my own business one day, walking across the stage with my little boy watching will be an achievement difficult to beat!
