Former physical education teacher Claire is studying our BSc in Rehabilitation & Injury Management and hopes to specialise in the treatment on athletes. She said:
Before I came to university I was a specialist teacher of physical education and I came to the clinic last year as a patient. I got talking to some of the students and decided that I would like to give it a go, and it snowballed from there really.
I’ve really enjoyed learning again, particularly anatomy and physiology, in a lot more detail than I’ve experienced before, and then I really like working in the on-site clinic.
The support’s been excellent, lots of variety of staff input, they’re very experienced, very understanding and they’re always available if anybody’s struggling. They encourage you to go to tutorials so that you can do one-to-one so they can help you with anything you’re struggling with.
When I leave Glyndwr University I’d like to work in a private clinic, specialising in treatment of athletes, specifically triathletes.
It’s a very friendly university, there’s lots on offer, it’s very diverse, people from all different nationalities, different cultures and different ages, all in one big mix and I love being here.
