Dr Kelvin Leong is a Christian. He was born and bred in Hong Kong.

Kelvin holds a PhD in Computer Science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include spatial-temporal data mining, behavioral data analytics, GIS, Big Data and FinTech. He has published peer-reviewed journal papers and conference papers on different fields of accounting, criminology, computer sciences and engineering. He is a member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

His another profession is an accountant and he is qualified in several countries, including Chartered Accountant in the U.K. (ICAEW), Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong (HKICPA) and Certified Management Accountant in Australia (CMA, Aust). Kelvin has solid commercial experience. Before joining the academia, he worked as a Business Analyst and Lead of North Asia Finance team of MK Electric under the Honeywell group. He has a weekly column on Hong Kong Commercial Daily (HKCD) about accounting and finance topics. The paper had a circulation of around 300,000 per day. On top of this, since March 2016, he started to serve the Canadian Center of Science and Education as an Editorial Board member for the International Journal of Business and Management.

Kelvin is a fellow of Higher Education Academy. Before joining Glyndwr University in 2013, he was a lecturer in Accounting and Finance at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from 2007 to 2013. He joined Glyndwr University in 2013 as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance. In 2016, he was appointed as Principal Lecturer and Professional Lead in Finance. He has strong connections with scholars and business professionals in different countries, such as U.K., South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Australia. He has worked with partnership office to deliver the Glyndwr university’s first international bi-lingual programme in Hong Kong. As the academic link for the programme, he supports the programme to get local accreditation and to meet university’s quality assurance requirements.

Other than above, he was elected as Fellow of Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland.
