Jo began her career in Mental Health Nursing where she focused her interests on working with patients suffering from Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders and Depression. Following this, Jo progressed onto working with looked after children within a residential setting. Jo then spent the rest of her pre-academic career establishing a pilot project for the first homeless night shelter in Wrexham, whereby she worked as a Senior Project Worker.
In 2013, Jo enrolled as a student at Wrexham Glyndwr University on the BA Criminology and Criminal Justice Programme, and graduated with a first-class honours degree. Since completing her BA, Jo went on to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Education - also at Glyndwr University and soon gained a position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant on the BA Criminology & Criminal Justice Programme.
Jo has since progressed onto becoming a full time Lecturer and is in the process of completing her PhD which explores the rehabilitative approach at HMP Berwyn. Jo has a continued interest in prisons and the custodial environment.
