Graham Jackson is Professor of Industry and Enterprise at Glyndwr University and became a Fellow of the University for services to industry, he is also full time Chairman of KK Fine Foods Plc (1998-2015) a leading frozen food manufacturer established in Deeside North Wales which employs 280 people.

Prior to this he graduated from Bradford University Business School and entered the world of commerce during which he floated 13 companies on the Stock Exchange, Chaired several important SME’s across a range of different industries which encompassed finance, stockbroking, films, golf, hire-tools, furniture, restaurants , pubs and leisure.

KK Fine Foods plc has twice been awarded the honour of Welsh SME of the year. At the British Frozen Foods Federation Awards the Company has won an award virtually every year since 1998 with 3 Gold Awards and 2 Silver awards.  His knowledge of the Food and Drinks industry ideally places him to teach, mentor, guide and place students wanting to take up a career in this dynamic sector. Because of his vast experiences over a large number of industries he is able to lecture on entrepreneurship from a practitioners perspective as well as from the academic world .   A fully qualified Company Secretary his lectures have been acclaimed internationally at global Universities where he has presented papers and lectures for EURAM (European Academy of Management) and EIASM (European Institute Advanced Studies in Management) at Moscow, Rome, Brussels, Kuala Lumpur, Bled, Talin, Rotterdam, Oxford, Iceland and Copenhagen as well as across the UK.

In addition to these commercial and academic appointments he is currently on the Committees of the North Wales Economic Ambitions Board, CBI North Wales Committee, Deeside Enterprise Zone Board, North Wales Business Council, Regional Skills and Employment Steering Group and Glyndwr University Industrial Advisory Board. He is a lecturer who combines practical interpretation with academic prowess to make his students street wise, accomplished and fully equipped for a successful career in business.

 

What do you do in your spare time?     Whenever that occurs time is spent gardening, dry stone walling, creating new projects or in researching new businesses.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?     Football, shooting, writing, lecturing, gardening and oenology.

Do you have any pets?     As I am passionate about the countryside I have 2 Labradors trained to retrieve and have fun with. Sometime in the future it would be great to have horses as horse racing is also a hobby.

What is your favourite book?     Odyssey - From Pepsi to Apple by John Sculley  1987, which would make a great film about the adventure of business and the interaction of different ideologies, it is still available through Amazon – a real bible for entrepreneurs, business scholars and it is an easy read.

If you could have an alternative career, what would it be?      Anything in the theatre, playing music or owning a vineyard.

Entrepreneurship, Business Management and motivating multi-national workforces in addition to the Undergraduate and Post graduate courses in the new Food Management Degree.

In establishing the first Food and Drink Management Degree in the UK I chaired a team to look closely at the requirements of the Food sector so as to identify the best way to create a labour force suitable to the challenges of that sector. This will enable those being trained in the various parts of the Food industry through apprenticeships, knowledge transfers, on-site modules or by day release to be better equipped than ever before so as to have a long-term and progressive careers in the food or drink sectors.
