North Wales Young Talent Academy Programme Leader/Business School Sessional Lecturer
Gaenor Roberts joined Glyndwr University in 2016 to set up a new management qualification for young people aged 18-30 showing management potential. The Cert HE Leadership and Management was part funded through ESF funding, and is a unique blend of practical skills and academic theory to meet the needs of aspiring managers and businesses in North Wales.
In 2005, Gaenor set up a successful jewellery company, with three shops in North Wales and an online shop. Gaenor is a fluent Welsh speaker and it is important to her that her business, Tlws, has always operated bilingually. Her greatest achievements with the business were to see the business grow to employ 12 staff, being named ‘Conwy Businesswoman of the Year’, being runner up in ‘Wales’ Bilingual business of the Year’ and nominated for ‘Welsh Woman of the Year’. The business has been operating online only since 2018.
Having returned to education to study for an MA in Business and Marketing in 2015, Gaenor sees herself as an advocate for life-long learning. She has also been a Big Ideas Wales role-model, supporting and advising young entrepreneurs in Wales for the past nine years.
