Emma's teaching career began in 1994 and she has a range of experience in mainstream primary schools in Essex and Manchester. She also spent a term teaching in a special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
Emma joined Glyndŵr University (then NEWI) in 1997 as part of the primary English team and has been working part-time across a range of Education programmes since 2003.
She is also an Associate Tutor within the Education School at Edge Hill University.

Her research interests are firmly rooted in children’s reading, writing and speaking and listening. She has two children at primary school who are a constant source of material.
