Elen Mai joined Glyndŵr University in 2005 and was a programme leader for the degree for 10 years. Elen Mai holds a position as Senior Lecturer at the department and her area of teaching expertise and research is in Drama in the Community and Applied Theatre and she is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Elen Mai is currently module leader for the following modules on the degree: Drama in the Community, Introduction to Drama, Applied Theatre, Practice as Research and Showcase.

She is also a personal tutor for Level 5 students on the degree. Elen Mai has directed many large scale productions on the degree such as ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘A Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘Grease’. Elen received a Teaching and Excellence award in 2014 for her teaching on the degree and was nominated from the student body.

Elen Mai is a well-known established public speaker and often contributes to bilingual events in the North East Wales area and is the official Orator for Glyndŵr University.

Outside of the University Elen Mai enjoys spending time with her family and is Mum to Gwen Iris and William Idris, she enjoys days out, eating out and is an occasional runner.
