Preparing for Academic Success
There is an entry level requirement to study this course – you must have a minimum of a level 5 qualification.
This module aims to prepare students to undertake level 6 and 7 studies. This module will allow students to develop critical thinking skills while still supporting them to become autonomous learners and enhance their confidence in their ability to study. The module will facilitate reflection and enable students to situate themselves in their profession. Returning to higher level study at Wrexham Glyndwr University will offer students an opportunity to prepare their academic skills in order to progress to further academic courses/programmes, encouraging them to consider their personal and professional goals.
What you will study
This is a part time stand-alone module aimed at students wishing to return or progress to higher level study. The contact time with tutors and access to Higher Education resources lends itself to increased confidence in writing at Level 6 or beyond.

The assessment (3500-word essay) asks the student to undertake a critical review of contemporary evidence on a narrow topic within their professional/academic field. This requires the student to access and evaluate salient literature and to apply this to their specialism. Demonstration of academic writing skills and presentation of the assignment will all be assessed.
