Italian language evening courses in Wrexham

5 Reasons to Learn Italian

With 65 million speakers worldwide Italian has official status in Italy, Malta, San Marino, The Vatican and Switzerland.

1 – Easier to learn if you already know Spanish or French Italian is mutually intelligible with Spanish and French meaning speakers of these languages should understand up to 60% of what you read and about 25% of what you hear.

2- A country rich with culture. If you’re learning Italian allows you to soak up its literature through Italian classics, watching the best of Italian cinema in its original version or listening to classic Italian music without needing to translate the lyrics.

3 – One of the fashion, design and art capitals of the world. Knowing Italian will allow you to come into direct contact with fashion or design through the press or by being able to live amongst art and the people of cities like Milan and Rome.

4 – A business language. Businesses that work in multiple languages will appreciate the value of an employee who can speak Italian.

5 – A perfect country to visit. Knowing Italian allows you to interact with the locals and better understand exactly which sites to visit while visiting Italy; precious cities and villages, each with their own certain charm.

What will you study?

Italian Beginner level (CEFR A1)

This class is aimed at students who have no previous knowledge of the language.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Communicate and exchange information in a simple way.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases,
  • Introduce themselves and ask and answer questions about personal information such as where someone lives, what someone does for a living etc.

Italian Elementary/Lower Intermediate level (CEFR A2)

This class is aimed at students who have completed the Italian Level A1 evening class or who have an equivalent amount of previous knowledge.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express themselves in familiar contexts, understanding sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring the exchange of information on familiar matters and have the ability to describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

£210 for non-Wrexham Glyndwr University students and staff

£50 for Wrexham Glyndwr University students and staff.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive 20 UK HE credits (10 ECTS)
