Introduction to Character Design
This is a short evening class offering an affordable and enjoyable introduction to Character Design. It is perfect for those who wish to generate a character that can be applied to a range of subjects such as Animation, Illustration, Comics, Games or Advertising. Whether it’s for students wishing to develop their portfolio, those wanting to expand on existing knowledge and beginners who aspire to learn about Character Design this course has applicability for all levels.
What will you study?
The process of Character Design involves conceptualising a character through events, physical and emotional attributes and visual distinctions. This course will take you through the fundamentals of good Character Design and will provide you with the resources you need to develop your methods and skills. Topics such a posture and movement, figure construction, gesture and facial expressions will be explored in relation to the development of a character. The tutor will offer advice and knowledge in the subject area and help develop your confidence to visually communicate your ideas.
The course will run for 10 weeks, commencing on the following dates:
31st January 2019 6-8pm
16th May 2019 6-8pm
The portfolio of work accumulated during the short course can be presented for assessment providing 10 HE credits.
This fee covers attendance and tutorage, including assessment and basic materials. Additional cost may be incurred if participants choose to work with non-standard materials or at high volume or large format.
