IT Business Graphics
This course will develop intermediate and advanced skills in MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
Using MS Word 2016 students will use taught skills to format text and tables, work with referencing and create tables of contents. They will improve productivity by using fields, forms and templates, and learn how the features of mail merge, macros, master documents, watermarks, sections, headers and footers work.
Using PowerPoint 2016 students will develop their understanding of target audiences, create and modify templates, and format backgrounds. They will learn how to use built-in drawing and image tools, apply advanced chart formatting features, and create and edit diagrams. They will improve productivity further by inserting videos and sound, applying built-in animation features and customising slide shows.
What you will study
Applying advanced formatting to text, paragraph, column and tables
Working with the referencing tool including footnotes, endnotes, captions, table of contents, indexes and cross-references
Improving productivity by using fields, forms and templates, and linking and embedding data from other documents or applications
Using advanced mail merge and macros
Working with master documents and subdocuments, watermarks, sections, headers and footers
Creating and modifying templates and design themes, and formatting slide backgrounds
Using built-in drawing and image tools
Applying advanced chart formatting features
Creating and editing diagrams, inserting movies and sound and applying built-in animation features
Working with custom slide shows, applying slideshow settings, controlling a slide show, and linking and embedding object from other applications.
The assessment will consist of an in-class test which will demonstrate the student’s knowledge and understanding of the software.
This would improve and enhance an individual’s ability to apply their IT skills to a wide range of career paths.
Dependent on their personal area of interest, this module could prepare students for entry to Level 4 undergraduate degree, or encourage them to pursue further learning.
