College liaison - Post 16

We provide information, advice and guidance sessions for schools and colleges across the UK and offer a range of activities that can be tailored to meet the needs of the audience. These sessions are designed to raise awareness of the benefits of university and inspire your students to think about their future and they can be delivered both on campus and at your institution.

Please note that currently all sessions are being delivered virtually, but the situation is being monitored in line with government guidance.

Activities can be offered on the themes of:
• Why go to university?
• What Wrexham Glyndŵr University has to offer
• Choosing the right course and university for you
• How to apply to university
• Writing an effective personal statement - how to sell yourself
• University interviews – how to prepare yourself
• From school to university – the student perspective
• Student finance – scholarships, bursaries and other funding sources
• Employment – fulfilling career aspirations
• Exam Stress
• Wellbeing – top tips, meditation, yoga, mindfulness, journaling, positive thinking

Our academics can also deliver subject specific talks for prospective students in fields such as business, art and design, psychology and engineering. We have student ambassadors studying a range of different subjects that can share first-hand experiences about university life, what it's really like and to answer any of your questions.

We understand that every school and their students are different so we can tailor our service to meet your requirements. If there is anything specific you require, please just ask!

'Our students have really benefited from our partnership with Glyndŵr over the past years. Our school liaison team has been unfailingly friendly, professional and accommodating. We have not only had bespoke school visits covering all aspects of the university journey but numerous visits to the site.

These experience days have covered Psychology, Criminology, Policing, Cybertech, Cybercrime, Fintech and more. We have been able to visit and receive visits and workshops from the brilliant engineering department who have created personalised sessions for our students.

Crucially, we have been able to reach out for support with individual students who are in need of advice and guidance on their individual pathways. We recently received this message from a 2019 leaver who is studying Policing at Glyndŵr, following incredible support from them during the decision making process: ‘I am well and loving my course and the people, it was by far the best decision I have made.’  Sir John Talbot’s School,

If you are interested in a talk from the Schools and Colleges team at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, please do not hesitate to contact us at recruitment@glyndwr.ac.uk.
