When you join Wrexham Glyndŵr University you will become part of a rich history of higher education in north east Wales. Our roots trace back to 1887 and our development has been a continuous process - you will study in some of the same historic buildings that thousands of graduates have studied in before, alongside many new facilities that have been established over recent years.
The majority of our services and facilities are housed within our Wrexham campus, which creates a friendly environment and promotes a real sense of community amongst our students and staff.
Over the year, there are a wide-range of social events and activities available. Whether it’s celebrating Bonfire Night, visiting a local heritage site, hiking in the mountains, or socialising - there’s sure to be something for you. These events are designed to help you make friends and experience the culture and traditions of Wales and the wider UK.
“We have visited lots of different places. We’ve visited Scotland, Bala Lake, Black Rock Sands and climbed Snowdon - there are lots of university trips to great places. We have also experienced many different cultures and made friends with people from different countries: France, Sweden, Germany and Bangladesh.” Mara students*
Our Wrexham campus boasts a wide range of facilities that support your studies such as computing and library facilities, as well as facilities specific to your chosen courses. Find out more about your chosen course area and its facilities on our section.
Sporting facilities on campus include the North Wales Regional Hockey Stadium, and the Wrexham Glyndŵr University Sport Centre which features a fitness suite, dance studio, astroturf pitch and a six badminton court-sized sports hall where a variety of sports are available. The Students’ Union also has a number of sports clubs and competes in university leagues for football, netball, hockey, basketball and rugby.
Our Students’ Union is the place to head to join clubs and societies and to meet new friends. They organise a variety of day and evening entertainment and hold a student night in the town centre; so there is always something going on.
“We lived in the student accommodation which is very comfortable and convenient as it is near all the facilities. It is important to get involved and we have represented the University at indoor football and basketball.” Mara students*
Whether you are looking for a friendly community atmosphere in our halls of residence or a more private house, our team of student accommodation experts are on-hand to help find your perfect new home and support you through your move every step of the way. You can check more about where to stay while you study here by visiting our accommodation section on our website.
“All the staff are friendly and are always willing to help us out of hours. Student Welfare even brought in someone from the bank to help us open bank accounts. They treat us as friends rather than just students.” Mara students*
