Below is an estimated timetable for the March 3 open day. Times will be confirmed closer to the date.
Registration 10am – 1pm (the University will remain open to visitors until 2pm)
Academic staff will be available in the sports hall from 10am to 2pm
- Science department providing tours of lab facilities.
- Tutors from Creative Media Technology showcasing our TV, Sound and Music Technology facilities within the Centre for Creative Industries.
- Find out more about our Merlin flight simulator and the home of Glyndwr Racing in our Engineering Department.
- 1-to-1 advice on student funding and welfare matters
General Campus Tours depart every 30 minutes from the Sports Centre, beginning at 10am.
Enquiries and Admissions team will be on hand to offer advice on Personal Statements and Interview Guidance.

12pm Interpreting Texts
What does it mean to interpret a text critically? It means questioning what you read and thinking about what the author wants you to believe. Join us for this Interpreting Texts taster session. Delivered by staff teaching the English and Creative Writing courses, this taster session will focus on an extract from a well-known text and introduce you to the skills required to do a close reading of the text. No prior knowledge or experience necessary.

Come and visit the Terry Hands Studio and the Catrin Finch Centre for a tour of our rooms / learning studios and performance spaces. There will be an opportunity for you to meet departmental staff and understand more about the content and curriculum of the degree.

10am-2pm Tours of the building and state-of-the-art facilities for Creative Media Production.
12pm Social Media for Creatives
This half hour session looks at harnessing the power of social media as a powerful promotional and communications tool for journalists, creative professionals and well, basically, anyone. It’s a taster of the sort of subjects we cover on our BA (Hons) Broadcasting, Journalism and Media Communications and BA (Hons) Journalism degree programmes here at Wrexham Glyndwr University. Come along and find out more about the benefits of using social media and some dos and don’ts when it comes to making the most of the opportunities it offers.
1pm Theatre, Television and Performance Workshop
Acting and performing for TV and theatre have always been closely linked, but you need an impressive set of skills to make sure you shine at both. Come along to this half hour workshop led by one of our final year students who will offer some first-hand advice on what it is like to study Theatre, Television and Performance at Glyndŵr.
