Open Day Top Tips
Want to make the most of your open day experience? Watch the video below where current Film and Photography student Elise gives you her top tips on what to do and who to speak to during your visit.
Plan your journey in advance
Our open day runs from 10am – 2pm with last entry at 1.30pm. Leave plenty of time for your journey but there’s no need to rush to get here as soon as we open - you can drop in throughout the day.
Check in on arrival
When you arrive at Wrexham Glyndŵr, please head to the main registration point where you can sign in and collect your information pack. This is situated in the main Sports Hall but don't worry, it will be signposted on arrival.
On our open days, there will be plenty of staff and student ambassadors to show you around the university, but if you want to find your own way around campus and want something more than just a map, why not download the Big Red Arrow App. The app uses augmented reality to help visitors find their way around campus.
Decide who you want to speak to
Academics from each course will be on hand to discuss their degree programmes with you.
Have a browse through our website or prospectus and make a list of the undergraduate courses you’re interested in – this way you’ll have a good idea of which talks you’d like to attend and which people you’d like to meet.
You can view our current list of talks and events here so you can schedule your day around the ones you are interested in.
There will also be opportunities for one-to-one advice and guidance on student fees and funding.
View our diverse study facilities
See some of our facilities such as the Centre for the Creative Industries. Our engineering labs will be open, come and see our flight simulator and performance car laboratories.
There will be drop in opportunities in our Language Centre. Learn more about language study at Wrexham Glyndŵr and take part in an introductory taster too!
Just a short walk from the main campus is the North Wales School of Arts & Design which will also be open to visitors – a shuttle bus service will be running throughout the day.
If you are interested in our land-based programmes, why not make arrangements to visit our Northop campus. The campus will be open from 10am - 2pm and staff will be available to show you round the facilities.
Take a campus tour
Our student ambassadors will be on hand to show you around the main campus and give you an insight on what it’s like to study at Wrexham Glyndŵr and the facilities that we have on offer. Tours take between 30-45 minutes and run throughout the day.
Download our map
Take a look at our campus map and download a copy in advance to help you find your way around. Don’t worry if you forget to bring a copy with you – you can pick up a copy on the day when you sign in.
View our student accommodation
Living on campus can be a great experience – take a tour and learn more about your accommodation options.
Head into Wrexham Town Centre
The beauty of Glyndŵr is that it’s so close to the Town Centre so why not take a stroll and take a look at what Wrexham has to offer. The main campus is approx. a 10 minute walk from the Town Centre and here you'll find lots to keep you occupied.
Relax and take it all in
Open days can be a bit hectic so take some time out just to soak up the atmosphere. Explore the University grounds or why not drop in to one of our restaurants or coffee shops for a drink and a bite to eat. You can even visit the student bar The Centenary Club to get a taste of what is to come.
Let fellow students - and us - know how you’re finding the open day by tweeting us @glyndwruni – don’t forget to use #WGUopenday in your tweets! You can also find us on Facebook or Instagram - so don't forget to take lots of pictures while you're here!
