Why did you choose to study at WGU?

Studying with WGU for a German government proved technician level qualification is the best opportunity to achieve academic skills in an appropriate time. Also, the experience to study in a different country with English as language offers us so many possibilities for jobs later on. The combination of Aeronautical AND Mechanical Engineering gives us a good understanding of flow behaviours, fluid dynamics and mechanical engineering skills. This raises our job market value to another level.

How do you find the support here?

The open-door policy of this university is great. It is extremely useful that we can contact our lecturers easily by email, just show up at their office, or even write them via WhatsApp if we have a problem.

What are you hoping to do in the future once you’ve graduated?

Go on with studying to achieve a Master’s Degree. And after that, of course finding a good, interesting and challenging job. In my opinion, the perfect job is a combination of the working environment, colleagues and your task. If you can find a job which fulfils those requirements and has a good salary, it should be the perfect job. With this education, I climbed up a very important step on the ladder to that aim.

Why did you choose to study at WGU?

I chose to spend my Erasmus year at Glyndwr University because of its Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering programme. For a long time, I have wanted to work in the aeronautical or the aerospace industry. For me, it was a great opportunity to have a first impression of that field.

How do you find the support here?

The student support at the university is very well developed. The university offers frequent training sessions for different skills. And due to the open-door policy, it is easier to ask a teacher for help or advice when needed.

What would you say to students thinking of coming to study at WGU?

If you have the occasion to come to Glyndwr University, you have to take your chance. For an international student, it’s an experience during which you will improve your language skills and acquire knowledge in the domain you like.

Why did you choose to study at WGU?

It was the ideal opportunity to improve my English Skills and deepen my engineering knowledge on an academic level. After my apprenticeship and my higher technical education diploma, based on Mechanical Engineering and Management, the bachelor’s degree started to become a real option for me. Due to agreements between the HFTM in Switzerland and the Glyndŵr University, I had the opportunity to complete the Summer School and join the University afterwards. In my home country, it would have taken three years more to complete the same degree. But at Glyndŵr, I’ve been able to discover a new environment, another teaching culture and to develop different learning skills. Finally, because I have been a big Fan of the Welsh Rugby team since childhood, it is an honour for me to learn in this local culture.

What elements of the course have you enjoyed the most?

I enjoyed the theoretical approaches during the Aerodynamics lectures. Afterwards, these approaches were proven in several lab sessions which covered the practical elements. Finally, the results were compared and analysed through computer software, so I understood these aerodynamics topics even better.

What would you say to other students who are thinking of coming to study here?

I would say, “Just do it”. This is such a good opportunity to achieve more knowledge and to confirm it with a bachelor’s degree. In addition, the improvement of the English language is a clear advantage for the Swiss industry as a Mechanical engineer. It always opens people’s mind to go away, to learn new things, and meet other individuals. Moreover, I have gained a rounded education due to my apprenticeship, my higher technical education degree, and finally the academic Bachelor at University level.
