North Wales Business Academy

Want to grow your business?

The North Wales Business Academy (NWBA) is a brand new initiative, part funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), through the Welsh Government.

The aim of the academy is to encourage business growth and competitiveness throughout the region; enabling employers across North Wales to identify and address specific training needs within their organisation.

Whilst the programme is looking at increasing skills and supporting future employment across the North Wales region, the NWBA has been designed with you in mind, recognising that ‘one size doesn’t fit all’.  The programme will be tailored to suit your business, directly addressing your individual requirements.

About the NWBA

The NWBA is a two-fold process.  Forming Phase 1 of the initiative, all employers will undergo an initial diagnostic assessment with an allocated Business Mentor.

This Strategic Business Analysis (SBA), will highlight the areas requiring attention and ensuring that the ongoing needs of the organisation will be met.

Whilst most employers recognise that training is essential for their workforce, a common concern is the length of time that some training courses take, and the effect that this has on business operations.  The majority of the training modules take place over 2-4 days and minimise the impact on the day to day running of the business.

Following the SBA, the second phase of the programme enables you to take action, giving you access to specialist modules which will allow your employees to learn the essential skills needed to develop and build their knowledge, and focus on achieving sustained, long-term business growth for your organisation.

FAQs

Who is eligible?

Businesses and organisations in North Wales, with 4 or more employees in the emerging or current priority sectors.

How much does it cost?

Depending on the size of your business / organisation, each module will cost between £150 and £250 (this is the cost per participant, per module). The cost is heavily subsidised through the European Social Fund, meaning you pay a fraction of the full cost.

How does it work?

After signing up to the programme, you (or a nominated employee) will follow an initial Strategic Business Analysis module to enable you to produce a ‘Diagnostic Training and Skills Plan’ which is unique to your business. Your plan will identify areas within your business where your key staff could benefit from specific training. We offer a series of modules which address these training requirements. You will work with a mentor to determine which of the modules should be considered priority for your business, based on your Diagnostics Training and Skills Plan. Following on from this analysis, further subsidised training is available to other areas of the organisation.
