Rugby League World Cup 2013 dates announced
23 July 2012
The dates have been announced for two Rugby League World Cup 2013 fixtures set to take place at the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium.
Wrexham will stage two matches at the tournament, kicking off with Wales taking on the USA on Sunday 3 November.
The historic stadium will also host a quarter-final match between the winners of groups A and D on Saturday 16th November 2013.
Anna Marie-Brown, Glyndŵr University sports facilities manager said: “We are delighted that rugby league fans and members of the public now have a firm date to put in their diaries for what is a major international sport fixture for the region.
“Glyndŵr University is proud to be hosting two matches at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, with the selection of the stadium as a quarter-final venue showing what a tremendous facility we have here in North Wales.
“We look forward to welcoming Wales, USA and competing quarter-finalists to the stadium next November.”
RLWC2013 general manager Sally Bolton said: “It is important to note that a small number of the dates may be subject to change. Our host broadcast partners will also be announced soon and when the TV schedule is finalised we will be able to set in stone the fixtures and kick-off times.
“We would encourage all Rugby League fans to buy early, especially for the showpiece games, as we have already had enquiries from St Helens fans, who were the first to receive their RLWC2013 ticket offers with their renewal information this week. Judging by our social media interaction we expect many more enquiries as the country enjoys a massive few weeks of sporting action”.
RLWC2013 tickets go on general sale on Friday 26 October, one year before the opening double-header at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
