Manchester legend features in month of music events

30 April 2012

One of the leading figures from the Manchester music scene is set to perform at Glyndŵr University.

Former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook will take to the stage at the university’s TV studio as part of the ‘Music Mayhem’ series of events throughout the month.

Hook will be performing with his new act Peter Hook and The Light on Thursday, May 24.

Music Mayhem will be opened by electronic folk duo Golden Fable on May 2, while local heroes Gallops will close the event on May 30.

Barrie Davies and Orient Machine complete the full line-up, organised by production company Glyndŵr TV, which is based at the studio in the university’s Centre for the Creative Industries.

The Peter Hook and the Light gig marks Hook’s second visit to the studio, after he delivered a public lecture on the music industry in May 2011.

A Glyndŵr TV spokesperson said: “We are extremely pleased to be welcoming Peter back to the studio, as well as looking forward to the other four acts who promise to deliver an eclectic and exciting series of gigs.”
