Flintshire Council chairman's praise for Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium
4 May 2012
THE chairman of Flintshire Council enjoyed top hospitality at the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium – all for a good cause.
Cllr Hilary McGuill auctioned off a day in a hospitality box to see Wrexham AFC take on Braintree Town in the final league game of the season at her annual charity dinner.
The event raised £8,800 for Great Ormond Street hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support, and the councillor herself was able to enjoy one of the prime lots after her son-in-law made the highest bid.
Cllr McGuill and her family were given VIP treatment, hosted by Glyndŵr University sports facilities manager Anna Marie Brown.
Cllr McGuill said: “We had a really fantastic time – it couldn’t have been better. Anna Marie was a perfect hostess. She arranged hot chocolate for the children at half-time and even let them do a penalty shootout at the end of the game – what a thrill.
“We also had five adults there who were very impressed.
“I would like to thank everyone who donated to the event for their kindness, as well as everyone who bid on them and who attended the various events we have held this year.
“Many thanks also to Glyndŵr University for its support.”
