Glyndŵr University statement on higher education in Wales

13 July 2011

In light of today's report from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), Glyndŵr University has released the following statement:

A spokesperson said: "We welcome the HEFCW report today as an opportunity. We are already collaborating with further education colleges and the other universities across north and mid Wales.

"We will engage with the consultation, and as outlined in the HEFCW document, we intend to remain independent, although working with a network of further education colleges and universities, including Bangor/Aberystwyth.

"Glyndŵr University prides itself as a brave and bold university that acts in the interests of our students and community. Our fee plan announcement this week, of the lowest fees in Wales for 2012-13, confirms our commitment of improving opportunities for all.

"We are a university ingrained within the economic development and social justice agenda of north-east Wales, and have a critical role of play in this region, to which we are committed."

More information for current and prospective Glyndŵr University students is available on our campus blog.
