Glyndŵr University event to bring down curtain on Wrexham Arts Festival
18 May 2011
Glyndŵr University will play host to the closing event of this year’s Wrexham Arts Festival.
Wrexham Symphony Orchestra and Glyndŵr Community Choir will perform together at the William Aston Hall on Saturday, 21 May.
During the first half of the programme they will play Schubert's Symphony No. 8 "Unfinished", conducted by Mark Lansom, while Peter Litman will conduct Mozart's Requiem in the second half.
The choir was founded in 2009 as the result of a conversation between Peter Litman and Glyndŵr University's Vice-Chancellor, Michael Scott. It is an unauditioned open access choir which draws its members from students, staff and the wider town and community, and already boasts a membership of some 80 singers.
Formerly of Kent, Peter Litman was a conductor for the Kent County Youth Choirs and is still a visiting lecturer in Music Education at Canterbury Christ Church University.
As well as conducting the University Choir, Peter is currently organist and choirmaster at St Peter's Collegiate Church, Ruthin and serves as an LEA appointed governor at Rhos Street Primary School, Ruthin.
