Glyndŵr University and A4e Announce Strategic Partnership

Glyndŵr University and A4e Announce Statement of Intent for a partnership for job creation, fostering employability and training

Glyndŵr University and Action for Employment Ltd. (A4e) have signed a Memorandum of Intent, marking a strategic relationship between A4e and the University’s subsidiary company, Glyndŵr Innovations Ltd.

Subject to finalisation by both the University and A4e governance boards in the autumn/winter of 2011, the company - company relationship is set to be implemented in January 2012.

The partnership aims to achieve maximum participation in higher education from socially and economically disadvantaged sectors of society. It will take on innovative approaches to learning, to tackle social exclusion and generational worklessness.

Professor Michael Scott, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Glyndŵr University said:

“In partnership with A4e we are building a new kind of global University:  a University and partnership that both responds to the recession, yet looks to the future of skilling and re-skilling the workforce. The learner is at the core of this new model of higher education, and our aim is to support thousands of people in transforming their lives.  We are confident that our partnership approach is the appropriate one to meet the Welsh Government’s transformation agenda especially in relation to Higher Education Skills Training.”

“Glyndŵr University and A4e share a common purpose - to help people improve their lives. In partnership we will help people to find work, and will develop the skills of workforces. We will help people find new directions and transform their circumstances. The University and A4e share a commitment to local communities, and to expanding international relationships that will bear fruit at home and abroad.”

Andrew Dutton, A4e Chief Executive added: “This partnership is about strengthening the UK economy, by nurturing people, their skills and opportunities. We share a mission to help all people realise their capabilities.”
