2 August 2011
Glyndŵr University graduates are the most employable in Wales, new figures have revealed.
The Wrexham university has achieved a record high 94.7 per cent for the employability of its UK and EU graduates – the average is 92 per cent.
The figures were revealed in the latest statistics on graduate employment published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency.
Its annual Destination of Leavers from Higher Education study records the activities of thousands of students after they’ve left university.
The new survey, which reflects the activities of those who graduated in 2009-10, also revealed more than 70% of those from Glyndŵr University were employed in graduate level jobs.
Karen Lennox, head of the careers centre at Glyndŵr University, said the figures showed the strength of the university in providing industry-led courses.
She said: “It’s clear from the latest survey that going to university remains a worthwhile investment. Glyndŵr University prides itself on delivering courses which industry want and courses which industry need and this is reflected in the fact that so many of our graduates are able to find meaningful employment when they leave.
“They leave with the skills which employers and industry are crying out for and they are able to fit seamlessly into the workplace.”
Students studying at Glyndŵr University can expect to start on a salary of £21,965, reveal the HESA statistics, with subjects such as health, social work, education, business and engineering recording particularly high graduate employment rates.
