Glyndŵr University leads new initiative to inspire involvement in sport in Wales

04 October 2010

Rather than just watching Delhi 2010 on TV, would you like to be at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014 supporting Welsh athletes?

Glyndŵr University is taking the lead role in supporting the Sport Wales campaign, Behind Every Star, which aims to inspire coaches and volunteers and more people across Wales to get involved in Sport.

October sees the inaugural Coach Education month taking place across north Wales. During the month there are a wide range of exciting opportunities across the region.

Glyndŵr University Sport is centrally co-ordinating the programme in partnership with all six north Wales local authorities, national governing bodies and Colleges/Universities.

One popular event, the UK Disability Inclusion Training course will be delivered by the Federation of Disability Sport Wales at Glyndŵr University’s Wrexham campus on Tuesday 26 Oct 2010, 9am – 4pm.

The training, which is both theory and practical, is designed to give coaches of all sports the ideas and inspiration to adapt their sessions to make them more accessible for disabled participants. The course is being run at a subsidised rate of just £25 per person for a six hour course.

To get on the road to Edinburgh, the first step is to contact Kirsty Percival, Coach Education Officer at Glyndŵr University, on 01978 293590 or email coacheducation@glyndwr.ac.uk. You can also visit the Coaching Wales website on www.coachingwales.com
