Call for applications for new independent members of the Board of Governors

Applications are invited from individuals who can make a substantial contribution to the work of the University’s Board of Governors as independent members.
The University’s Board of Governors has collective responsibility for determining the University’s educational character, for enabling the University to achieve and develop its mission and primary objectives of learning, teaching and research, ensuring the solvency of the University and safeguarding its assets.
The Board of Governors, which has a majority of independent members, includes the Vice Chancellor (Chief Executive) and staff and student representatives.
It is entrusted with both public and private funds and its members have a particular duty to observe high standards of governance. This includes ensuring and demonstrating integrity and objectivity in the transaction of the Board’s business and wherever possible following a policy of openness and transparency.
The closing date for applications is 29 January 2011.
