First public display for professional works as School of Creative Arts hosts 2017 Graduation Show

5 May 2017

The School of Creative Arts at Wrexham Glyndwr University is set to come to life with a host of films, performances and artistic installations at a Graduation Show.

The annual show opens on Tuesday 30 May this year and will feature graduate artists, designers, makers and performers presenting their professional works for public display for the first time.

A broad wealth of creativity, skills and expertise will be on show from courses ranging from Animation and Graphic Design, to Film, Photography and Fine Art.

The show forms part of a host of activities taking place across the School of Creative Arts as students prepare for the end of their studies.

Television, Theatre and Performance students are also at the forefront of activities as their academic year draws to a close, performing an adaption of Complicitie’s The Street of Crocodiles as part of Focus Wales music festival.

Alec Shepley, Head of the School of Creative Arts, said: “There has been much talk and concrete action of late, to develop the notion of the 21st century art school and to consider its relationship with the world.

“I still firmly believe that creativity does not simply mirror the world – it actually plays a fundamentally crucial role in shaping and creating our world and showing us the right path.

“I am reminded of this on a daily basis here in my job at Wrexham Glyndwr and I am confident our graduates will play their roles to the full in the development of the creative industries within the region and beyond.”

The 2017 Graduation Show is open to the public free of charge, weekdays from Tuesday 30 May to Friday 16 June, from 10am to 4pm, at the university's Regent Street campus (pictured). Special arrangements can be made on request for schools, colleges and larger groups who wish to visit.

The exhibition will also be open on Saturday 10 June from 10am to 2pm for the Wrexham Glyndwr University Open Day, where a range of tours and interactive activities will also be taking place.
