Bumper line-up of live comedy and music brings 2016 events at Wrexham Glyndwr University to a close

November 24 2016

A bumper line-up of seven nights of music and comedy in nine days – including appearances by three of the biggest bands of the 1970s – will bring the 2016 events programme at the William Aston Hall to a close.

Showaddywaddy kick off the run of events at the Glyndwr University Wrexham venue on Saturday December 10 before Slade bring their Christmas show to the Hall on Sunday December 18.

In between, singer Elaine Paige, comedian Russell Howard, soul sensation Alexander O’Neal and 70s hit makers The Real Thing all play at the William Aston Hall.

Mark Fleming, venue manager at the William Aston Hall, said: “This year’s line-up of events has been bigger and better than ever before and we’re delighted to be welcoming so many household names to Wrexham Glyndwr University as 2016 draws to a close.

“The William Aston Hall is an iconic Wrexham venue and we look forward to continuing to provide a high quality, varied entertainments programme for the people of North Wales in the new year.”

2016 has seen the likes of Jimmy Carr, Lulu, Madness frontman Suggs, Al Murray, Julian Clary and Russell Watson. The university also brought the biggest rock concert for more than 30 years to Wrexham, when 20,000 plus fans visited the Wrexham Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium to watch the Sterephonics in July.

-          Rob Beckett, Friday December 9

-          Showaddywaddy, Saturday December 10

-          Elaine Page, Tuesday December 13

-          Russell Howard, Thursday December 15
