Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium will host Wales v Scotland in the opening game of the Wales Rugby European Championships
Wales take on the holders on Friday October 16, and the Wrexham university is "honoured" to be the venue for such a historical game.
"Glyndŵr University is honoured to be hosting such a prestigious tournament," said a spokesperson.
"Good luck to Wales and we hope the fans enjoy the game."
The Welsh squad will be in camp in North Wales during the tournament. They will be utilising the facilities at the Village St David’s Hotel in Hawarden and Deeside Sports Centre.
Hanna Clarke, Commercial Executive for Wales Rugby League, is excited for the opening game.
She said: "Hosting the opening game at the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium is exciting and a chance to set the standard for the rest of the tournament both on and off the field. It’s a great opportunity for all to witness international sporting action at its best in North Wales."
Ollie Cruickshank, Performance Manager for Scotland RLand the Scottish squad said they are looking forward to coming to Wrexham.
“We are looking forward to opening up our defence of the European Championships at Wrexham," he said.
"This is a big year for the players with places in our Four Nations squad up for grabs.
"A lot of players performed superbly well last year and they will have a chance to prove they deserve a place against the best in the world. There will be some serious competition for places from player’s injured or unavailable last year and those who’ve come on a lot this season."
