A new business innovation centre is being launched by Glyndŵr University in a bid to support aspiring entrepreneurs in starting up and growing their businesses.

The Enterprise Lounge will be based at the university’s Wrexham campus and offer furnished office space, in-house expert support and a whole range of essential business resources and facilities to students, graduates and members of the local community looking to turn their business ideas into reality.

With a focus on those businesses at the very earliest stages of their development, the cost of being based within the centre will begin from only £10 per week plus VAT.

The Enterprise Lounge will help to break down the barriers which stand in the way of many new businesses whilst they are in their infancy – providing cost-effective work space, a network of support as well as local business and specialist expertise.

ZONE Enterprise Hub, Glyndŵr University’s dedicated enterprise service, will provide every occupant of the Enterprise Lounge with expert business support, one-to-one mentoring, and access to workshops and training in all areas of business development.

ZONE Manager Mike Corcoran, said: “The first few months of life for any new business are tough. We work with many aspiring entrepreneurs who are faced not only with developing, financing and promoting their new business ventures, but also with the need to quickly develop many new skills, establish contacts and partnerships, and juggle all of this with family life, with many of these businesses starting out in the ‘back bedroom office.’

“With The Enterprise Longue, we want to give these innovators a base around which they can build a routine, a place to entertain clients and be proud to advertise as their home. We want them to benefit from the world class expertise and resources on their door step, and work with them to quickly solve problems, and develop their business acumen.

"Perhaps most importantly, we hope they will feed off one another’s creativity, collaborate, and support each other in the process of finding success in their ventures.

“We see this as a fantastic opportunity for our many entrepreneurial students and graduates, for new businesses throughout the wider community, and believe it will contribute to producing the next generation of Welsh innovators, supporting the local and national economy.”

Students, graduates and individuals looking to base their business in the area are invited to apply for a space within The Enterprise Lounge.

Applications are invited both from new businesses, and from those individuals in the process of developing business ideas, with a view to commencing trading in the near future. For more information, and to collect an application form, email zone@glyndwr.ac.uk
