Liverpool and Wales football star Joe Allen made a surprise appearance at Glyndŵr University to present a junior football team with new kit.

As part of Official Liverpool FC’s Automotive Partner and Official Wales Team Sponsor Vauxhall’s wider support for youth football, Dickens Vauxhall Wrexham officially handed over a brand new team kit to Llay United Under-13s with the help of Allen.

The midfielder was on hand to present the Vauxhall-sponsored kit to Llay United Under-13s as part of a Liverpool FC Soccer School, hosted at the Glyndŵr University.

Allen, who is a key player for both his club and Chris Coleman’s international squad, dropped in to surprise the young players, who had no idea that he would be handing over the new strip.

Dickens Vauxhall’s Football Champion Rob Griffin said: “Supplying the players of Llay United Under-13s with a brand new football kit is just the starting point of an exciting new partnership between Dickens Vauxhall and the team.

“Dickens Vauxhall is delighted to be part of the Vauxhall Youth Football Programme, which is an excellent way to work with our local community in a meaningful and fun way.”

Rob is also Llay United Under-13s team coach and added: “It’s a great initiative by Vauxhall and it provides a much needed level of support to junior football clubs around the country.

“Meeting Joe Allen and the Liverpool coaches has been an unbelievable experience for the teams here today, and one we’ll all remember for a long time.”

The Vauxhall Youth Football Programme marks Vauxhall’s commitment to supporting grass roots sport, alongside their role as Official Automotive Partner of Liverpool FC and Official Sponsor of Home Nations Football.

Since the programme launch in 2012, over 150 Vauxhall Retailers have taken part by sponsoring one or more local youth teams.
