Award-winning entrepreneur to headline free business event

Dawn Roberts

AN award-winning entrepreneur who struck gold with a prestigious industry heavyweight is to headline a free business event.

Dawn Roberts, managing director of Abergele-based Outperform Services, will host an interactive workshop at Glyndwr University’s OpTIC Centre on Wednesday October 15.

Held at the university’s OpTIC Centre in St Asaph, the bi-monthly GEM (Greet, Eat and Meet) forums are proving to be one of the highlights of the business calendar in North Wales.

Dawn’s ‘Serve to Sell’ presentation will explore why companies should adopt a “serve mentality” with customers to increase sales and grow for the future.

She said: “The only way to be truly and consistently successful at selling is to adopt a serve mentality.

“The people that deliver service in your organisation are either protectors or assassins of your brand. This interactive workshop will help people to ask the essential questions of their service and understand how to increase sales.”

Dawn added: “While the message will have a serious impact on your business, I’m also keen to enjoy the lighter side of business and that will come across on the day.

“I’m looking forward to appearing at GEM and hope to see a good attendance there on the day.”

Glynd┼Ár’s Head of Business Development and Funding, Mick Card, will present Dawn with a much sought-after gold Investors in People Award before the event.

Outperform delivers training and coaching solutions for businesses of all sizes nationwide, and has continued to grow over the last seven years.

Investors in People is the UK's leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.

Dawn said: “I am absolutely delighted to have received this prestigious award.

“It is a great honour for me and my staff to be one of only 15 SMEs in North Wales to achieve this standard. We have all worked extremely hard and I am very pleased.”

Mick paid tribute to Dawn and revealed the OpTIC Centre has gone from strength to strength in 2014.

New businesses have taken-on incubation units at the Denbighshire site and a 10% room hire discount for all new customers has been introduced.

“We’ve welcomed some incredible speakers over past months and Dawn will be among the best of them,” said Mick.

“The OpTIC Centre attracts companies of all shapes and sizes, industry leaders and entrepreneurs who are just starting out on their business journey.
“GEM appeals to everyone and that’s why it’s quickly become so popular, bringing people from all over North Wales, the North West and beyond together to discuss business, network and add value to their operation using the advice, support and expertise gathered on the day.”

GEM takes place from 8.15am. For more information, visit https://servetosell.eventbrite.co.uk
