Fair ignites graduate start-up businesses

Graduate start-ups, the power of social media and the value of customer service to business came under the spotlight at a business fair.

More than 40 businesses attended Ignite Your Business 2013 at Glyndŵr University’s Sports Centre, organised to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week and European SME week.

As well as opportunities for networking, the event was designed to help businesses in North Wales learn about advice and support available to them.

Social media expert Andrew Davis, who has trained teams Saatchi, Ogilvy, Blackberry, MTV and the Premier League in social media, passed on some tips about digital strategy.

Former police officer and IT sales professional Adrian Webster spoke about putting customers at the heart of everything that business does.

Glyndŵr University’s entrepreneurial centre, Zone was present at the event, showcasing some of its graduate business successes.

These included Giggles and Games, Aquarian Photography and Creative Catalysts, who also had their own stand.

Zone manager Judith Alexander said: “Ignite Your Business provided not only a chance for our graduates to market their businesses but for us to demonstrate the wealth of entrepreneurial talent which exists at Glyndŵr University.

“Obviously we are exceptionally proud when any of our students who dream about starting their own business achieve their ambitions and we hope to help them along the way.”
