Graduate start-ups under focus at business event

Graduate start-up businesses are to be showcased at a business fair featuring more than 40 companies as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Ignite Your Business will feature entrepreneurs from Glyndŵr University who have achieved success after working through Zone, its centre for entrepreneurial studies.

The fair, which takes place at Glyndŵr University on Tuesday 26 November, also includes keynote talks from Andrew Davis, about branding and reputation online, and motivational speaker Adrian Webster, who will be speaking about customer service.

Shaun Roberts, director of web design agency Creative Catalysts, is one of the 40 plus businesses attending the fair at the Glyndŵr University Sports Hall.

Shaun started the business while studying computing at the university and said he hopes the event will inspire others to do the same.

He said: “I’ve only been in business for two years and am still finding my way; events like this help bring people together to network and receive help and advice, as well as giving us a platform to show what we can do.

“I have lots of exciting things planned for my trade stand, I want to make it as interactive as possible with a 3D jigsaw pyramid, sand art, and I’m also going to be giving away a tablet in a competition.”

Zone manager Judith Alexander said: “It is fantastic to see young, ambitious graduates starting and growing their own businesses. Shaun in particular has a very innovative, creative and fresh approach to his business.

“The event will be very beneficial networking opportunity to our students interested in entrepreneurship.”

A discounted rate of £5 entry is available to all Glyndŵr University students on production of a student card. Normal entry price is £7.50.

Ignite Your Business runs from 9am to 4pm in the sports centre at Glyndŵr University on Tuesday 26 November.
