Expert on

Public health, exercise referral schemes, physical activity and mental health

Charlotte spent many years working within in-patient and community mental health settings before transferring this skill set to work within a public health environment. Charlotte designed, delivered and evaluated one of the first comprehensive exercise referral schemes in Nottingham and subsequently went on to design a quality of life measure specifically for exercise referral populations as part of her PhD. Charlotte was responsible for coordinating the Department of Health (DH) pilot study that investigated the feasibility of a physical activity care pathway within primary care and this pathway, termed ‘Lets get Moving’ (LGM), is now being integrated into routine primary care practice. Charlotte's research interests include physical activity and mental/physical health, evaluation of public health interventions, psychometrics, brief interventions and the integration of motivational interviewing into diverse behaviour change settings. Charlotte is a Chartered Psychologist and is also a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
