Students' Union President
I am originally from Llanelli in South Wales which is a town roughly the same size as Wrexham. I moved to Wrexham in September 2012 to start my BN (Hons) Adult Nursing degree. I chose to come to Wrexham Glyndwr University after talking to current students about the level of support that was on offer, its employability rate and its close proximity to other large cities. During my third year of my degree I was elected as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Officer in the then Students’ Guild, receiving the most votes of any sabbatical or non-sabbatical officer since 2008.
I was lucky enough to be elected as the first Vice President of the new Students’ union in 2016, during my time as Vice President I am committed to focusing on Student Health and wellbeing, student safety and student engagement in extracurricular activities with one of my main campaigns focusing around consent education. At the bringing of my post I enrolled on a postgraduate CPD course, The Future Leaders Program which covered leadership skills, operational effectiveness and project management. I intend to continue to improve my CPD by undertaking another postgraduate course in professional supervision while continuing to look for further postgraduate studies in the field of health.
I was elected as President of the Students’ Union for 2017/18.
